Clayton;

Mrs. Ruth G. Irvine age 86 died Saturday at Samaritan Keep Home where she had been a resident since October of 2008.

There will be a private graveside committal service at the convenience of the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours or funeral.

She was born May 8^th 1924 in Clayton, the daughter of Jason and Adelaide Hunt Gokey, she graduated from Clayton High School. She married Thomas Irvine October 17^th 1942 at Sacred Heart Church in Watertown with the Reverend Benoit C. Dostie officiating. Mr. Irvine died November 22^nd 2003 at age 83. She worked as a telephone operator for New York Telephone in her earlier years, the office of Hayes Brother Construction and retired in 1986 after working many years at Kennedy’s Pharmacy.

Ruth enjoyed her gardening.

Surviving is one daughter Susan [Kevin] Kittle and one son Richard [Karyl] Irvine of Clayton, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. One son David Irvine died in 1982, and one sister Sue Hackbarth died before her.
