The funeral for Mr. Morris D. Golden age 70 will be 11:00 am Friday Morning Jan. 1st at the Cape Vincent United Methodist Church will Reverend Mark Pierce and Reverend Richard Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Sand Bay Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at The T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton.
Mr. Golden died Fri. Dec. 24th at his home.
Morris was born February 26th 1939 in Henderson NY. the son of Dean and Ida Fuller Golden. He graduated in 1957 from Bellville High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1960. He married Jean Hazelwood Dec. 2nd 1962 at the Dexter Methodist Church with Reverend Ralph Hutchinson officiating. Morris and his wife owned and operated Golden’s Big G gas station and convenience store in Depauville and Golden Big G gas station and gift shop in Clayton. Later he was a mechanic at Lathams Car Dealership, and then service manager at Carriage House Cadillac both in Watertown. He retired in 2007 after 22 years of driving bus for the Thousand Islands School District. He also assisted his wife in the operation of her business Jean’s Fudge for over 25 years.
Surviving besides his wife Jean is a daughter and her husband Sherry and Matthew McCarthy of Clayton, two sons and their wives Jerry and Elizabeth “Buffy” and Perry and Katherine of Cape Vincent, five grandchildren, four brothers and their wives James and Carol, Perry and Mona of Maryland, Robert and Jane of Clayton and Florida and Albert and Donna of Maine, nieces, nephews and cousins.
