Mrs. Leila M. Denesha age 92 of 912 Strawberry Lane died
Saturday at River Hospital in Alexandria Bay where she had been
a patient for a week. There will be no calling hours or funeral.
Private Burial will be in Old DeKalb Cemetery.
Mrs. Denesha was born June 12th, 1918 on Pillar Point
the daughter of Ivan and Alma Gould Castell. She graduated from
Alexandria Bay High School in 1937 and from St. Lawrence School
of Nursing in 1941 as a Registered Nurse. She married Leland L.
Denesha September 14th, 1943 at the Clayton Methodist
Church Parsonage, with the Reverend Thomas J. Williams pastor
officiating. She worked at the St. Lawrence State Hospital until
1946 until moving to Russell NY. She assisted her husband in
running a cheese plant in which they owned. She also did special
duty nursing and assisted on the local ambulance when needed.
They sold the cheese plant in 1971. They lived on Wellesley
Island from 1975 to 1985 where they then moved to Florida. They
moved to Clayton NY in May of 1998. Mr. Denesha died January of
1999. While living in Russell she was a member of the United
Methodist Church and was active in church affairs. She was a
life member of the Richville Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are two sons Paul of Philadelphia NY, and Gary [Mary]
of Clayton, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one
sister Mrs. Charles [Norma] Lindl of Fineview, nieces and
nephews. One sister Mrs. Marilyn Beech predeceased her.
Arrangements are with the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton.
