Robert L. Bennett

Mr. Robert L. Bennett age 74 formally of Watertown died May 11th, at Mercy of Northern NY where he had been a resident since December 2009.

There will be a graveside committal service at Riverside Cemetery on Wellesley Island on Sunday May 23rd at 1:00 pm. There will be no calling hours. There will be a celebration of life following the graveside service at PJ’s River Rat Café in Fishers Landing.

Mr. Bennett was born August 13th 1935 in Watertown the son of Carl and Dorothy Cole Bennett. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1953 and graduated from Ryder College with a degree in business management. He was a founder of Bobart travel agency in Watertown, which he operated for over 30 years. In recent years he was a tour captain for the Chattanooga Ducks in Tennessee. He was a member of the Masons, the Shiners and a member of the New York Patriots. He enjoyed boating and traveling.

He married the former Joyce Takach April 13th 1957 in Trenton NJ. The marriage ended in divorce.

Surviving are one daughter Pamela (Fred) Maurer of Potsdam, two sons Robert Bennett of Watertown and Jon (Pam) Bennett of Clayton, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. Two brothers David and Arthur and one sister Margo Cook died before him.
